The family decided 98-year-old Cordelia Mae Hawkins in a nursing home to introduce her youngest member of the family. The visit was attended by the woman’s daughter Frances Snow, 77, granddaughter Gracie Snow Howell, 58, great-granddaughter Jacqueline Ledford, 29, and great-great-granddaughter Jaisline Wilson, 19. There was also the youngest, only 7-week-old Zhavia Whitaker. Thus, women from as many as 6 generations were immortalized in the photograph.
The child is not Cordelia’s first great-great grandson, but she is the first girl. Speaking to Gracie Howell, MaeDell’s granddaughter said the doyen of the family was eager to see women from every generation together. “We just planned the day and we all got together and Grandma knew we were coming,” she said. – She was excited. We spent three hours with her. I know that’s a rarity in six generations, especially since we’re all the same sex.

Cordelia Mae Hawkins got married for the first time when she was 16 years old. She became involved with 50-year-old Bill, who was a widower and had 10 children. His first wife died at home while giving birth to conjoined twins who also did not survive. The difficult situation made Cordelia very quickly accept the role of mother. She gave birth to 13 children and later had two more husbands. Raising numerous offspring was not easy, because there was no sewage system and other basic amenities in the apartment.
According to the information provided by the family, Cordelia may now have up to (106 great-grandchildren, 222 great-grandchildren, 234 great-great-grandchildren and 37 great-great-grandchildren). Her granddaughter, Gracie Howell, said that her grandmother always cared for the children and cooked them three hot meals a day. “She’s had a hard life, but she has a good spirit,” she said.
