“The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” is a hit that magically transported CK Lewis to the world of film. As it turns out, several scenes from the cult production were recorded in our country. The producers were delighted with the Polish landscapes.
Most of the scenes were almost shot in Poland. The temperature was decisive
Marianna Rowińska, the owner of Ozumi Film, reminded fans of “The Chronicles of Narnia” that several scenes from the cult series were recorded in Poland. Production director Andrew Adamson was simply delighted with the landscapes he saw in Białowieża, Kazimierz Dolny, the Tatra Mountains and many other locations in our homeland. As it turns out, many scenes from the movie were very close to being filmed there. Unfortunately, one factor decided to move them to the studio – the temperature.
The filming took place in February. The young actors playing the main characters were not able to withstand the frost prevailing at that time. For this reason, the production decided to shoot longer scenes in film halls in New Zealand. However, several key photos from Poland were included in the film. What scenes are you talking about?
“Those were very difficult photos.” Marianna Rowińska recalls the backstage of the production
Finally, the producers decided to record a few shots at Lake Siemianówka, located near the Białowieża Forest. These were very difficult photos. It was about one of the key scenes of the film, in which children run across a frozen lake to save their brother – Marianna Rowińska. To record the fragment, the team had to use specialized equipment, including m. cameras on helicopters.
The producers liked working in Poland so much that they stayed in our country for an additional eight days. The second team, which was responsible for special effects, recorded shots in the Stołowe Mountains, the Tatra Mountains and on the Dunajec River. Their task was to match the scenes from Poland to the photos from the studio in New Zealand to give them the right realism.
