The exact date should depend on the planned date of transferring them to the ground, which will come about 4 weeks after sowing the cucumber in the pots.

Also remember that these vegetables react very badly to frost, so they should be in the ground in the second half of May at the earliest, when the risk of frost is negligible. Although sowing cucumbers for seedlings is a bit of work, it is worth it. In this way, you can enjoy the first harvest from two weeks to even a month earlier.

How to sow cucumbers for seedlings? It depends on how quickly they will be ready. Planting cucumbers step by step

Seedlings should be prepared in separate pots. In each you can sow from one to even three seeds, and later, if necessary, throw out a weaker seedling. Choose humus and fertile soil, and plant the seeds themselves at a depth of up to 2 cm. Place the pots on a wide and well-lit windowsill. Remember that cucumbers will not grow if it is cold. Make sure they germinate at a temperature of 22 to 24 degrees Celsius. Water them regularly, but moderately, to keep the soil slightly moist. After about 4 weeks, they will be ready to be transplanted into the ground. It is best to do it at the turn of May and June, depending on the prevailing temperatures.

If you don’t have a garden and want to enjoy delicious cucumbers, you can plant them in pots on your balcony. However, do it no earlier than mid-May to mid-June.
