Weronika Anna Marczak made her debut with The Monet Family only in October last year, and has already become a best-selling author. Her story about a 14-year-old girl who loses her two most beloved people in a car accident: her mother and grandmother and suddenly has to move to another continent to a luxurious villa to live with five newly met men, was first published online. On Wattpad, she gained a loyal following of readers, thanks to whom the topic of menstruation appeared in the book. They were the ones who asked in the comments to show this period in Hailie’s life. Marczak says:
I was surprised by the number of these comments and decided that maybe it is needed, maybe people want to read it, maybe it needs to be discussed – because in fact, I reached back to the books that I also read as a teenager, and there was no such topic raised at all. Even when the book was written in first person, the characters had no such problems.
