International exhibition ‘Ancestors’

In the Contemporary Art Room of the Municipal Museum of Guayaquil, Ancestors of the Colombian artist Jorge Russinke. The exhibition brings together 14 works that range from the most linear geometry, made up of straight lines at different angles, to a complex combination of lines, curves, eclipses, spirals, among other possibilities, that achieve a more organic effect.

His work is inspired by the pre-Columbian cultures of America that reflected, in their textiles, pottery and architecture, geometric shapes, lines and color, which are still valid today in their artistic, handcrafted and folkloric expressions.

The exhibition is open from 10:00 to 17:30, Tuesday to Saturday.

Theatrical meeting

From this Tuesday until Friday, the Espol University presents its First Theater Encounter, in a virtual format. A total of 68 plays will be broadcast on the @espolcultural social networks, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Groups from Chile, Bolivia, Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, the United States, Spain and Ecuador will participate in the meeting.

For the opening ceremony the works will be transmitted Bernarda Alba’s House, Achiote Fino, A Woman’s Story, The Jealous Old Man and I die I exist.

The four days will also be screened on the big screen at the Prosperina campus, from 09:00 to 11:00, and from 14:00 to 16:00.

2021 Free Book Fair

This Tuesday, the Free Book 2021 Independent Publishers Meeting will inaugurate its seventh edition from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with the presentation of Footnote N ° 6 and a poetry recital. The activity will take place until Saturday, November 20 at the Arts Library (Aguirre and Pichincha, corner).

During the appointment, independent publishers and bookstores in the country will exhibit their books from 10:00 to 18:30. The fair will feature workshops, talks and book presentations. Free entrance.

Poetry Festival

The Guayaquil Poetry Festival Ileana Espinel continues with its second day of the day. Feminist Festival

The Equis Feminist Film Festival continues to be held in person and virtually. Fighters, Directed by Paola Calvo and Patrick Jasim, it is one of the films available at equisvirtual.eventive.org.

The film tells the story of three female fighters from Ciudad Juárez, known for their high rate of femicides: Mini Sirenita, whose dream is to become a full-time fighter and leave her job at the factory; Lady Candy, who is trying to get a US visa to cross the border so she can meet her daughter; and Baby Star, a young single mother who is looking for a way to become a star of wrestling again. All three represent a new image of what it means to be a woman in Mexico.

This virtual function is projected together with the Ecuadorian short film Jessica, by Rafael Méndez Meneses when we have the information. The audiovisual portrays the story of Jéssica Ruiz Franco, who lost her hands in an attempted femicide. The cost of each virtual function is $ 5.
