Don Alfonso, from the screen of Ecuavisa to Hollywood: he will make his debut as a voice actor in the movie ‘Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’

He is the first Ecuadorian who participated, he says, as a voice actor in a Hollywood production. “It’s an honor for me. I feel very satisfied. It’s a new challenge and, in the case of Paramount Pictures, a film company with so much history and so much baggage, of course it’s a pleasure for me,” admits announcer Ecuavise, Alfonso Espinosa de los Monteros.

Don Alfonso He has almost 56 years of experience on television, where he got the audience used to his deep and calm voice. He states that, although he has a lot of knowledge in this field, he still feels like a beginner in acting, the business he is engaged in: “I haven’t done it before and I certainly have a lot to learn about it; but I am a pioneer, because I am the first Ecuadorian to work on dubbing for North American cinema”.

In an interview with the newspaper EL UNIVERSO, the journalist comments that the character he is dubbing is a warrior: “The film has animated characters and real characters. I am dubbing an animated character, a famous warrior who comes to ask where his brother is.

It is an action film for all audiences, especially young people. It is about fantasy, mythological characters and rare creatures, he says. This proposal came to him through the Paramount Ecuador group: “He contacted me because the company wanted to dub Latin American actors into Spanish; then it occurred to them that I might be a good candidate for it. My name was suggested; they liked the idea of ​​who I was. And so it came up and suddenly I was already working on it.”

He is facing this challenge at the age of 81, but he was encouraged because he is in the field of the art of communication. To get into the role, he says he didn’t have a voice test; there was no need: “There are many recordings of me from television and networks.” However, he had to prove himself in the interpretation of the character: “I didn’t have any problems either. There I took out my acting amateur vein and the recording turned out to be very interesting. Everything went perfectly, conveniently.”

As for the topic Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thievesthe news presenter admits that he has never been a fan of video games or fantasy: “Especially because one never has time for such beautiful things, but I find it very interesting to approach a film based on a game”.

“The voice is an incredible tool that God gave us, because we were born with the natural conditions to develop this way of communication, which is the basic way: speech and conversation. Therefore, we should all have the opportunity to use this tool, because the voice is an attribute that suits all of us”, he says.

And then I went into television, but I was always associated with using my voice. We communicators are very aware of how we should manage our voice, how we should take care of it and, above all, how to create messages that are consistent with the same voice,” he says.

His experience in radio drama

He always wanted to be a film actor.

Don Alfonso He says that acting was something he wanted for a long time: “I’ve always loved acting; Ever since I was a teenager, I dreamed of becoming a movie actor one day, but of course, that’s never easy to achieve.
