After reaching retirement age, seniors often have the opportunity to take advantage of numerous discounts without knowing it. We remind you of a few in force in 2023, thanks to which they will be able to save a lot.
Discounts for pensioners on public transport. They can travel cheaper
The rules for granting public transport discounts may vary depending on the city and the carrier. So it’s worth checking local websites to find out exactly how much . In some cases, these can be large amounts:
- 10-50 percent discount – seniors over 60 will pay less for tickets for POLREGIO, PKP SKM in Tricity, Łódzka Kolej Aglomeracyjna or Koleje Dolnośląskie;
- 37 percent discount on 2nd class travel on PKP, TLK and express trains twice a year. During the journey, you must have with you an appropriate certificate entitling you to a discount, issued, for example, by the Polish Association of Retired, Pensioners and Invalids;
- up to 50 percent discount – on public transport tickets. Often after the age of 70, the rides are even free.
Nationwide Senior Card. What are the benefits?
After reaching the age of 60, you can apply for the National Senior Card. It entitles you to as many as 3,000 points in Poland, e.g. sanatoriums, health resorts or cultural institutions. It can be obtained at the city or commune office, as well as at selected senior associations.
RTV subscription discounts in 2022. Who will pay less?
Two groups of seniors were completely exempted from paying RTV license fees. This is about:
- persons over 60 with the right to an old-age pension, the amount of which does not exceed half of the average monthly salary in the previous year,
- seniors over 75.
