Initially, the director and producer Okil Kamidov was interested in buying the rights only to the comedy series “Matchmakers”. For the purposes of negotiations, he invited Volodymyr Zelensky to a meeting in Wrocław. It was then that the president of Ukraine came up with the idea of creating a Polish version of “Servant of the nation”. — Listen, Okil, I have a nice series “Servant of the People”, in which I played the main role. Would you buy too? — recalled the director of the word politician in an interview with “”. Unfortunately, TV stations were not interested in Ukrainian political production and Kamidov was forced to decline. Then Zelensky issued an ultimatum. – You will not buy “The Servant”, I will not sell you “The Matchmakers” – the president was to say. “We had no choice. And this format was with us for several years, because no Polish station wanted “Sługa Narodu” – confessed the producer of the Polish version of the production.

The producer confessed that he had been in possession of the script for “Servant of the People” for over two years. It was only when the war broke out in Ukraine that a decision was made to start production. Interestingly, previously uninterested in cooperation, producers and stations began to offer several times higher rates for the redemption of rights to the series. It turned out that a seemingly unsuccessful investment from years ago, however, paid off. “The manufacturers offered us a much higher price, even a hundredfold overshoot,” recalled Kamidov.
The premiere of the first two episodes of the Polish version of “Sługa Narodu” will take place on March 4 on Telewizja Polska. As it turns out, President Zelensky has already familiarized himself with the production. The director sent the politician the first episode of the series, and the assistant gave his reaction. — She later reported that Zelensky liked our version. He thinks the series is cool and he’s glad we made it,” said Okil Kadimov.
