They want to change TVP’s verdict on pre-selection, so they write to the EBU. We know whether there is a chance to change the verdict

The scandal after the results of the Polish pre-selection for Eurovision 2023 does not subside. Fans of the competition want to flood the European Broadcasting Union en masse with e-mails that are supposed to change the verdict of the jury. We know whether similar attempts have a chance of success.

This year’s pre-selections ended in a huge scandal. The competition was won by Blanka Stajkow and her song “Solo”, which did not appeal to a large group of fans of the competition. Since the announcement of the results, voices of indignation have been heard in the network that Jann should represent Poland in Liverpool.

Scandal after Polish pre-selections for Eurovision. Jann’s fans plan to flood the EBU with e-mails

A petition was even created in which Jann’s fans demanded that the decision be changed. Also commenting on Blanka’s entries, they urge her to give way to Jann, because in their opinion only he has a chance for a podium in an international competition. There were even suggestions that the pre-selection final was fixed and the results were counted unfairly.

The proof was to be, among others, a TVP article with a publication date earlier than the end of the pre-selection. The station quickly clarified that an hour is the start time of the journalist’s work on the text. It is a popular practice for editorial offices to create drafts that facilitate work on reporting important events.

There seems to be no end to the competition’s fans questioning the pre-selection results. Commenters on the web are making plans to flood the European Broadcasting Union with news about alleged irregularities of the Polish eliminations. They hope that the decision can still be changed.

Can the EBU change the results of Polish pre-selection?

Does the EBU have the right to intervene in the case of Polish pre-selections? The institution was asked about it by the editors of Onet, and the answer will probably not please Jann’s fans.

Each participating broadcaster is responsible for selecting its entry for the Eurovision Song Contest in accordance with the contest rules. Questions regarding the selection of the Polish representative should be directed to TVP – stated the European Broadcasting Union.

This means that the EBU will not admonish TVP and will not interfere in changing the decision of the Polish jury.
