EasyJet Flight 1806 witnessed a spectacle in the air this week when something unusual happened to the airline’s passengers: their pilot told them to turn around. “Yes? Because?” were questions that began to arise, but it was a unique experience: their captain wanted to give them an unparalleled view of the aurora borealis that could be seen in the distance from the plane.
Some of the people traveling were already waiting, because days before Finnair flight 488, from Kuusam to Helsinki, suffered the same fate. Ross Stick, his wife, brother and sister-in-law were on flight 1806 bound for Manchester; He said CNN that they had heard of a miraculous event that had taken place on a Finnish airline, so they “held magazines by the window to block out the lights in the plane’s cabin in the hope that they might see something”.
Aurora video of last night’s plane. First there was a nice green band (over Lake Michigan) and then I thought it was going out…I decided to randomly check a little later when we were passing through Buffalo, NY and the red was crazy!! #Dawn #northern Lights #flydelta #DeltaAirLines pic.twitter.com/Th4s2f0qWz

An EasyJet flight made a 360° circular turn so passengers could see the Northern Lights. Not only one side of the plane could see the phenomenon, as described stick. His group was lucky because they were on the left side of the plane, so they were able to take plenty of photos and video before turning around.
“The EasyJet team were amazing and turned off the lights so everyone could see the aurora,” he said CNN. For its part, the airline also spoke in the publication applauding the captain for “executing a controlled maneuver and allowing passengers to witness from the air an incredible display of one of nature’s best sights: the Northern Lights.”
Passenger Adam Groves tweeted his thanks:
Big thanks @easyJet the pilot of EZY1806 from Reykjavik to Manchester who did a 360 mid-flight to ensure all passengers could see the amazing northern lights 🤩 pic.twitter.com/A4CHi9Hqgo

As for the Finnair flight, flight tracking websites show images of this and another plane circling the air for several minutes. “A big thank you to the captain of Finnair flight AY488 from KAO to HEL tonight for an unplanned 360 degree turn in the air so all passengers could enjoy the magic,” he tweeted. Kirsi Comey.
Another passenger added to the topic: “View from the front.” It’s a shame I didn’t have a better camera with me.” The night sky in the UK is turning green, pink and purple, despite it being a phenomenon near the pole.
According to the UK’s Met Office, these people were able to see these lights because of the clear skies in their region and their northern location, which made it possible to see the aurora borealis. (AND)
Same flight. The view from the nose. Too bad I didn’t have a proper camera. #feelfinnair #northern Lights pic.twitter.com/0C4CqVkjyD
