She refused to fly, so she was forcibly boarded the plane. A few minutes later there was a catastrophe

There is no denying that she has earned the title of R&B princess over the years of consistent work. Despite her young age, Aaliyah has achieved enormous success, matching world-class performers. Her debut album went platinum, and the songs conquered the charts. If she hadn’t been forcibly brought on board the plane, today she would probably be one of the biggest music stars.

from an early age, she worked hard for her position in the music industry. She was determined to succeed and did not look for shortcuts. The style and compositions she developed in the studio were significantly ahead of the era in which she created. Although she had numerous achievements and only one scandal to her credit, today few remember how much the R&B princess made a great contribution to the history of music.

She was determined to succeed. Consistency brought her to the top

Although she has been associated with her since childhood, she only presented herself to a wider audience at the age of 11 during her debut in the TV talent show “Star Search”. Although she failed to win the show, the industry was already interested in what the young singer had to offer. Aaliyah already had an idea for her career. She knew what she wanted to record and what genres she wanted to base her work on.

Two years later, Aaliyah began working with industry-renowned singer and producer R. Kelly, whom she met through her uncle, Henkerson, who was also involved in the world of music. The fruit of many hours of recording in the studio were her original songs, which saw the light of day with the premiere of her debut album. The album “Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number”, which was released on the phonographic market in 1994, combined the sounds of jazz, soul and hip-hop. The album sold over three million copies and quickly went platinum.

An affair with a producer 12 years his senior caused a scandal. Later, the musician heard allegations of pedophilia

With the huge success of the singer’s debut album, information appeared in the media about an intimate relationship between her and her mentor. The young artist got into an affair with R. Kelly, 12 years her senior, with whom she even secretly married. It turned out that in order to formalize the relationship, they had to forge documents. The singer was only 15 years old at the time and under the law she could not get married. Ultimately, their marriage was annulled.

Although Aaliayh has never publicly commented on the relationship, it has been speculated that the singer took advantage of her youthful naivety. A few years later, after the death of the artist, R. Kelly heard allegations of sexual abuse of underage girls.

Her musical endeavors never ceased to surprise. Aaliyah’s career was cut short by a tragic accident

However, the media scandal did not affect his creative activity. Two years later, the singer proved again that she is not afraid to experiment. Her second album “One In A Million” showed a completely new face of R&B. The album sold 11 million copies and was certified double platinum. The breakthrough in the artist’s career was the third and last album released during her lifetime. The album “Aaliyah” debuted on the phonographic market in 2001, just a month before the singer’s tragic death. It was in order to shoot the music video for the single “Rock the Boat” promoting this album that Aaliyah flew to the Bahamas.

On the ill-fated day of August 25, 2001, Aaliyah and just 8 members of the 60-person crew headed to the airport where they were scheduled to fly back to Miami by private jet. There were, however, some complications. It was not foreseen that the number of passengers and their luggage, which included cameras weighing several dozen kilograms, would make the plane overloaded. When this information reached Aaliyah, guided by caution and fear, the singer categorically refused to fly.

While waiting at the airport, the artist complained of a headache. Then one of the crew suggested that she take sleeping pills and go to sleep in the car that had been rented for the duration of their stay on the island and was still parked in a nearby parking lot. Aaliyah took this advice and went for a nap. After the tragedy, it was not known for a long time why the singer finally changed her mind and was among the passengers of the flight. Only in the book “Baby Girl: Better Known as Aaliyah” the shocking course of events was revealed.

Aaliayh refused to fly back. She was forcibly brought on board

Years later, a Kingsley Russell Airport baggage handler has found the courage to talk about the shocking circumstances of Aaliyah’s boarding. Although he was a 13-year-old boy at the time, he remembered perfectly what happened that day and revealed the detailed course of events. The man’s words were also confirmed by his stepmother, who owned the car in which the famous singer took a nap.

It turned out that the sleeping pills that the band members gave the singer were so strong that she slept soundly and nothing could wake her up. Then the team decided to put her on the plane without her knowledge. They carefully lifted her out of the car and carried her to the jet, even though she had previously refused to return in an overloaded machine.

A series of negligence was committed that led to the tragedy. Aaliyah died on the spot

When the plane took off and took off, it stayed aloft for less than a minute. The pilot unsuccessfully tried to control the situation and reach the appropriate altitude, but in vain. A moment later, the machine crashed and burst into flames about 60 m from the runway. As a result of the tragic accident, all passengers and crew members on board this flight died.

Later investigations showed that the certificates used by the pilot were forged and in fact he did not have a license to fly the aircraft. In addition, the man had a conviction for possession of drugs, and at the time of the tragedy in his system was alcohol and cocaine. This and a significant excess of the weight of the allowed baggage made the control of the plane not so much difficult as impossible and led to a tragedy. At the time of her death, Aaliyah was only 22 years old.
