From an early age, Janusz Laskowski showed a passion for music, which was not indifferent to his parents. The mother of the future singer decided to support her son’s passion and bought him his first guitar. Although she knew that the young man had extraordinary vocal abilities, she warned him not to put everything on one card. However, he felt that the stage was his place and was determined to achieve his goal.
As a singer, Janusz Laskowski made his debut in the band Ananasy in Białystok. After the cooperation ended, he founded his own music group Dacyty. The works he wrote were sold in millions of copies on the so-called music postcards, a variation of gramophone records. The singer is the author of such hits as “Yellow autumn leaf”, “The world does not believe in tears” or “Colorful fairs”, which captivated the hearts of the crowds. The latter was appreciated in 1977 during the 15th National Polish Song in Opole. Laskowski then received the Journalists and Audience Award, although the jurors of the plebiscite were against it.
Interestingly, a few months later, she sang the same song, although in a slightly changed version, and her performance was liked by the Sopot audience.

If I had gotten fifty groszy for each sold postcard with “Beata”, I would have … millions – he said in an interview with Pomponik.

At the time, the 20-year-old singer would spend long hours there while his companions played bridge. The teenager quickly caught his eye and, enchanted by her charm, he created a song that became a great hit.
The artist has never revealed the exact personal details of the young woman he sings about in his most popular song. Many speculated that perhaps the title Beata came from an influential family, and an affair with a not very popular musician could have a negative impact on her good name.
