On February 15, 2023, a list of artists was published, who were finally selected by the competition committee from over 300 applications. Ten of the best performers will compete for the opportunity to represent our country in Liverpool on February 26. The votes of the jury and the viewers will decide. They already have their favourites, as do foreign fans of the competition.

37 countries will take part in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, but not all of them have chosen their representative yet. Poland was also included in this group. However, we know the soloists and groups that have a chance to take part in the largest musical event in Europe. Local pre-selections did not escape the attention of foreign fans following all the details of the event. The Eurovision World website has published a list of participants in the pre-selection “Here Beats the Heart of Europe – We Choose a Hit for Eurovision”, which will be broadcast by TVP, along with the assessment of individual proposals. It is worth noting that not all songs have been revealed. At the time of publishing the performers by the service, we got to know the compositions of 6 out of 10 candidates, which is why only they were evaluated.
Least chance
One of the more controversial proposals, due to the text, turned out to be “Booty” by Ahlena from Szczecin. Supporters of the song, however, compared it to the work of Lizzo, Iggy Azalea or Nicki Minaj. According to data published by Eurovision World, fans of the contest gave the rapper only 2/5 stars. This is the lowest score among all performers whose works are public. Less than three stars were awarded to the composition “Never Hide” by former “X Factor” participant Maja Hyża, whose participation in Eurovision was speculated even before the submissions were sent. “Lift u up” by Natasza Urbańska, who already has experience in pre-selections, received a slightly better rating of less than four stars. However, her proposals have not been recognized by the Polish commission so far.
Who will win the preselections? The foreign portal already has its types
According to the foreign website, three contractors have the best chances. Blanka, a singer from Bulgaria and a former participant in Miss contests, was highly rated. Her song “Solo” received four stars. In second place was Dominik Dudek, the winner of “The Voice of Poland”, whose proposal “Be Good” was written by a team of creators who had contact with Eurovision before. She was awarded almost the maximum number of points. The clear favorite of Eurovision World and both Polish and foreign fans of the competition is 23-year-old Jann who, although he seems to be a debutante, has had a successful performance at the National Opera, and received his musical education in Great Britain. His song “Gladiator” was rated 5/5 stars.

The website omitted songs that were not yet known at the time of publication of the article. There is still room for advancement “New Home” by Alicja Szemplińska, who could have gone to Rotterdam in 2020 with the song “Empires”, but after the competition was canceled due to the pandemic, she was replaced by Rafa³ Brzozowski. The former participant of “The Voice Kids” Kuba Szmajkowski with the song “You Do Me”, the indie rock band Felivers with “Never Back Down” and Yan Majewski with the song “Champion” will also fight for the semi-finals. Poland’s chances in the competition were also assessed by bookmakers. The favorites are Ukraine, Sweden and Norway. Our country was ranked 13th in the ranking, but this position may change when we get to know our representative. The ranking was based on the following factors: results obtained in previous years.
