The 14th pension is to be paid at the turn of August and September. At the moment, everything indicates that many seniors will not receive it in the amount that was assumed. All because this year there will be no exception and it will be taxed. How much can retirees lose?

According to the applicable regulations, only up to PLN 2,500 gross is exempt from the tax, which means that some seniors will pay tax on both the “thirteen” and “fourteen”. It was hoped that this year, as in the previous year, these benefits would be released from it. According to “”, this is not in the plans, as reported by the deputy finance minister. – We are not working on such regulations – said Artur SoboĊ during a meeting with journalists.
Last year, the tax exemption was an exception due to the introduction of Polish. This time, however, seniors must prepare for the fact that “thirteens” and then “fourteens” will be smaller than expected. However, this does not apply to persons whose gross pension together with the “fourteen” gross pension does not exceed PLN 2,500 gross. But what about other seniors?
How much will the 14th pension be? The amount may be lower than expected
Due to the fact that it will not be exempt from tax, it will amount to less than expected. Some hoped for a similar relief to the one that was in force in 2022 thanks to the Polish Deal. Unfortunately, it is not foreseen, so seniors whose gross pension plus the 14th gross pension exceeds a total of 2,500 gross will have to pay tax.
At the turn of August and September, the 14th pension will be paid. This year in the amount of PLN 1,588 gross due to the March indexation. It is worth remembering, however, that in the case of persons with a benefit exceeding PLN 2,900, the 14th pension will be reduced in accordance with the principle of one zloty for one zloty. 9% of health insurance is also collected from the “fourteen”.
However, there are still disputes over whether 13th and 14th pensions should be taxed. According to “Fact”, a letter on this matter is already on the prime minister’s desk.
