Jenna Ortega on the biggest complex from her school days. She heard he looks “like a gorilla”

Actor Penn Badgley, with the help of Navy Kavelin and Sophia Ansari, hosts the podcast “PodCrushed”, in which he and invited guests return to his school days. They are not always positive memories. The interlocutors met earlier on the set of the series

The conversation was extremely casual, because the special guest and podcast host met on the set of the same production. We are talking about the American series “You”, which is a loose adaptation of the novel of the same name by Caroline Kepnes, initially broadcast by Lifetime, and from the second season – by Netflix. Badgley played the lead role of bookseller Joe Goldberg, while Ortega played the supporting role of Ellie Alves. The interlocutors were not strangers to each other, which was conducive to extremely intimate confessions. Once the topics related to “Wednesday” were discussed, the period when the actress attended school began to be mentioned. It was then that its largest complex was born, which remains so to this day. It was the dark hair on his arms.

Her friend’s words have stayed with her to this day

Ortega confessed that she had heard some nasty comments about her dark hair being genetics and her Puerto Rican-Mexican heritage.

I was very hairy. I have dark hair, I’m Latina. I remember feeling insecure because of the hair on my legs, but the hair on my arms made me feel even worse. One of the girls I thought was a friend told me I had gorilla hands.

the actress recalled. She also recalled a situation in adolescence when her mother allowed her to shave her legs for the first time.

When I came out of the bathroom, she noticed that I had also shaved my hands. It made her very nervous, but what could I do, it was also my complex.

– she said. The complex has remained with her to this day. Ortega revealed that to this day she shaves her hands every day, even when day-old hairs are barely noticeable. Only then does she feel good about her body, although today no one makes her uncomfortable with inappropriate remarks.

Today, bodies promoting body positivity point out that commenting on women’s hair is an example of double standards – an unshaven man is less likely to be the object of jokes. At the same time, they emphasize that shaving hair should be an individual matter and everyone should be able to choose whether they want to do it or not, without having to explain their decision.
