Isolation and fear that her phone would be tapped: this is the content of Princess Diana’s personal letters that are up for auction

Series, documentaries and even living witnesses have always confirmed what many already suspected: despite being part of the English royal family, Diana of Wales’s life was far from being like that of a fairy tale. Twenty-five years after her death, personal letters revealed that her torment worsened when she announced that she would be divorcing from then-Prince Charles III.

“Desperate and ugly” were the words with which Lady Di referred to the tortuous process that, according to the letters, she would have avoided knowing that her integrity as a person would be compromised by being isolated and she even feared that her phone could be tapped.

This was announced by the Daily Mail, which reported that the collection of 32 letters written between 1995 and 1996 were addressed to his friends Susie and Tarek Kassem.

Private letters from Princess Diana are auctioned for millions of dollars

The Kassems reportedly stated that the letters represented a “great responsibility” that they did not want to inherit to their descendants for fear of reprisals, so they decided to auction them at an initial figure of £90,000, equivalent to about $99,000.

Mostly, the ‘People’s Princess’ thanked the couple for being gentle and protective of her, something she was “not used to” and even wrote how good it was to be in a “threesome”.

“His electrifying presence transcends time. People’s fascination with Princess Diana has hardly waned since her tragic death. […] With this in mind, the Kassems would like to give others the opportunity to purchase a memento of the princess,” the auction website states.

In addition, some of these envelopes contained more personal information about the Kassem family, which will not be put up for sale.

Likewise, they emphasize that each letter will be auctioned individually on February 16 in Penzance, Cornwall, and that the proceeds will be donated to charitable causes that were close to Susie and Diana.
