For many, she is an unforgettable Hanka Ruczajówna or an excellent singer, for others – a lover. Lidia Koraskówna’s love affairs are full of complexities, just like her acting career. The Honorary Citizen of Warsaw has contributed not only to her city, but also to the entire Polish world of cinema and theater.

Despite the odds, she knew who she would become
Music was as important to her as acting. The two worlds were connected by the Soviet musical comedy Circus, after which Korsakówna decided that despite her speech impediment (she had a stuttering problem at the time), she would stand on the stage of the theater or in front of the cameras in the future. She realized these dreams gradually and successively. She studied at the Wrocław ballet school, from which, thanks to Tadeusz Sygietyński and Mira Zimińska, she went to the Mazowsze State Song and Dance Ensemble. The vocals inherited from her mother (whose voice is said to have broken chandeliers) allowed her to become a soloist and perform in, among others, with Irena Santor, who was active in the group. The paths of both talented singers crossed again when Lidia got involved in the first Polish color feature film – “Przygodzie na Mariensztata”. The parts sung by her character, Hanna Ruczajówna, were sung by Santor.
She was born to play seductresses. This is how her friend Zofia Czerwińska from the Syrena Theater recalls her.
Korsakówna was a resourceful, well-cooked housewife. Beautiful, shapely woman. When in the 1970s Tadeusz Łomnicki played Francisco Goya at the Teatr na Woli in Antonio Vallejo’s When Reason Sleeps, directed by Andrzej Wajda, he chose her for the dramatic role of his Spanish mistress.
– she told “Gazeta Wyborcza”. For the role of Donna Zowrilla, she received an individual award at the 16th Kalisz Theater Meetings in 1976. She was also a lover in real life.
She broke relationships and was betrayed herself
It was said about Korsakówna that she was cursed – if she had feelings for a man, he usually turned out to be married. Often also much older. This was the case with Kazimierz Pawłowski, the director of the Satiric Theater in Katowice, who was not only 21 years older than her, but also … offered her a job. The unofficial couple met at the SPATiF club, where the actress was offered to play in the theater. This was not the only controversy associated with Pawłowski. He went to prison for causing a car accident and even in this situation, Korsakówna did not want to leave him. That was until she met her future husband. They were also connected by theater, and the new chosen one … was also married. He even had a child with his then-partner, and although he tried to divorce because of his new crush, his wife did not agree. He got a divorce after 7 years.
I was sitting in the audience at the Buffo Theatre. And on stage Brusikiewicz, who uttered various obscenities, directing them directly to me.
– this is how the actress recalled her first meeting with the comedian Kazimierz Brusikiewicz. The environment joked that she picked him up and he “didn’t really protest”. The emerging feeling was sealed by the moment when they played a couple in “The Case of Kowalski” on the stage of the Syrena Theatre. They got married in the early 60’s and soon not only their daughter was born. It turned out that during the new relationship, the actor cheated on Korsakówna with his ex-wife. Both fulfilled in the profession of a common parent. Brusikiewicz’s son later maintained that “the father simply loved both” women.
