Labor Inspection transformed 8,760 contracts into indefinite ones in the CAV, in 2022

Although campaigns against fraud in temporary hiring have been carried out since 2018, last year an inspection action on partial hiring was launched for the first time.

The Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Security, Elena Pérez Barredo, and the Deputy Director of Labor Inspection, Iciar González, presented today in Bilbao the balance of the Inspection last year that has allowed transform into indefinite already full time 8760 contracts. In addition, the campaigns planned for 2023 have advanced, including intensifying actions in security and health as a consequence of the increase in the staff of inspectors and sub-inspectors.

Last year the Labor Inspectorate of the Basque Autonomous Community reviewed 25,948 contracts, 14,559 as a result of its ordinary action in the fight against fraud in contracting, and another 11,389 within the framework of the shock plan. Of these, 8,760 contracts were transformed into indefinite and full time, 3027 for ordinary activity and 5733 in the crash plan.

As Pérez Barredo explained, the function of the Labor Inspectorate “is not punitive, but seeks to guarantee the workers rights and, to the extent that it acts, companies correct, on their own initiative, certain situations”. In this sense, he has indicated that the labor reform approved last year is undoubtedly a corrective factor in itself, because it considers by default that Contracts must be indefinite and they assess very well which ones may be temporary. Therefore, in addition to clarifying the situation of workers, it facilitates the work of the Labor Inspectorate in contracting control.”

Although campaigns against fraud in the temporary contract have been carried out since 2018, last year an inspection action was launched for the first time in terms of partial contract.

equality between women and men

The pay inequality and inspection of discrimination based on sex they are also the object of their actions.
