The Netflix movie follows young Ezra (Jonah Hill), who is searching for the love of his life. By chance in life, one day he ends up getting into the wrong car and meets Amira Mohammed (Lauren London). After a few dates and starting a formal relationship, the couple decides that it is time to meet their respective families. Everything will become complicated when Ezra meets Akbar (Eddie Murphy), Amira’s father.
“He is white and Jewish, she is black and grew up Muslim, and when the two unexpectedly fall in love after a mix-up and their respective families put their relationship to the test,” quotes the official synopsis shared by Netflix.
The film is a comedy that will highlight the racism and discrimination that couples can experience from their in-laws. The film that began recording in October 2021 in Los Angeles was released in select theaters on January 20, 2023 and will arrive on the popular streaming platform on January 27.
