Paco Rabanne died on February 3 in Portsall, Brittany, France. His death was confirmed by a representative of Puigi, the parent company of his brands, who said that Paco Rabanne “has marked generations with his radical vision of fashion and his legacy will live on.”
Paco Rabanne is dead. His extravagant outfits were worn by Jane Fonda in “Barbarella”
The Spanish-French fashion designer was born on February 18, 1934 – his real name was Francisco Rabaneda y Cuervo. He fled from Spain to France with his mother after the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War (his father – with the rank of colonel – was executed by the Francoists during it).
He was an architect by education, but the world of fashion brought him fame. He began his career designing jewelry for the fashion houses Givenchy, Dior and Balenciaga – for the latter his mother was the head dressmaker. He founded his own fashion house in 1966. His clothes, in which he used, among others, metal or plastic, were admired, and perfumes signed with his name are also eagerly bought.

Unconventional clothes, unconventional words
Paco Rabanne designed e.g. costumes for the Franco-Italian film “Barbarella” by Roger Vadim from 1968. Jane Fonda played the lead role in it. In 2005, an exhibition of his drawings opened in Moscow.
He was also known for his unconventional statements. He claimed that he had already lived several lives, and in one previous life he was a courtesan at the court of Louis XV, and in another he met Jesus. During the 75,000 years he was to spend on earth, he was also to be visited by aliens.
