has undergone a major transformation in recent years. The station’s programs, as well as the music events it organizes, constantly feature the same names. Many artists refuse to participate in the initiatives of Telewizja Polska due to their views. They do not want to be identified with a place where activities are omitted, minorities are discriminated against, and disco-polo plays in the background.
TVP recently talked about the situation, which also does not support many of the station’s activities. “Artists do not want to play on TVP, because it is a regime television, government, therefore they boycott the festival in Opole. Therefore, there is a small line-up at such a festival, the same names over and over again – at the festival in Opole, in the New Year’s Eve concert – explains the famous singer. At the same time, he regrets this state of affairs and misses a breath of fresh air at the events in which he has been participating for years.
Jacek Kurski is no longer the president of TVP. How much did he earn managing the station?
The artists are also boycotting the prizes awarded on TVP. Last year, a scandal broke out around the Wiktors – the artists did not recognize the nominations and did not want to appear at the event. The consequences for the gala are that the award ceremony this year will not take place at all.
Jacek Kurski has been in charge of Telewizja Polska since 2016. During his rule, there was a noticeable decline in trust in the news and current affairs programs of the station. CBOS research shows that for the first time in history, the percentage of critical opinions towards TVP exceeded the number of positive opinions. Therefore, the September decision of the National Media Council to dismiss Jacek Kurski as president of TVP was not surprising to many. The politician was replaced by Mateusz Matyszkowicz.
That’s how much Jacek Kurski earned on TVP. The CEO’s salary is impressive
Some time after the changes in TVP, Adam Szłapka, a member of the Nowoczesna party, submitted a request to Telewizja Polska for information about the salary of the former president, which he received in his previous position.
As we read in the e-mail from Robert Sołek, deputy director for corporate affairs at Telewizja Polska, “the gross amount of remuneration of the president of TVP Jacek Kurski in 2022 is PLN 854,073.19”.
The Wirtualne Media portal wrote about Kurski’s earnings in the previous years of governing TVP. According to the website’s reports, in 2016 the president of Telewizja Polska earned PLN 304,000 gross, a year later PLN 333,000, and in 2018 about PLN 414,000. According to the portal, the amount from 2018 exceeds the then national average monthly salary seven times. In 2022, Kurski received over PLN 100,000 per month of work.
