  • burial of the urn in an earthen grave: PLN 250
  • additional fee for digging a grave in winter: PLN 150
  • placing the coffin in the grave: child (up to 6 years old) PLN 120, persons over 6 years old PLN 250
  • cremation service: persons over 6 years old PLN 990, children up to 6 years old PLN 500,
  • opening and closing a brick or earth grave with a tombstone: PLN 500.

At the necropolis in Sopot, you have to pay PLN 520 for digging and filling in an ordinary grave. At the municipal cemetery in Gdynia, digging and filling a single-level grave costs PLN 500. The cost of buying a place at the Gdynia cemetery has also increased. A single earth grave costs PLN 1050, a double – PLN 2050. Prices, depending on the service, increased by PLN 50 to even PLN 300. In turn, the costs of funeral services at municipal cemeteries increased by over 15 percent. However, buying a place or digging a grave is part of the fees to be paid. The costs of the stonemason, funeral home, cold storage, funeral procession, transport and preparation of the corpse or obituaries are also at stake.

Funeral Grant 2023. How much is it?

Since 2011, the amount of the funeral allowance has been unchanged at PLN 4,000. There are ideas to increase the amount of the funeral allowance or to increase it for people in a difficult financial situation. MP Krzysztof Piątkowski performed in 2021.

The existence of a funeral allowance does not result from the fulfillment of a constitutional obligation, but is an expression of the legislator’s freedom to shape the social security system. The funeral grant is therefore only an accessory element of the right to social security
