In the last quarter, the number of Netflix subscribers grew by 7.66 million to 230.75 million, but, for example, net profit shrank from $ 607 to $ 55 million. The heads of the service have been sleepless for some time, sharing accounts between friends or family members who do not live under the same roof, and even contributions between strangers, making appointments, for example, on online forums for movie and series lovers. They decided to strictly limit this practice.
Netflix restricts account sharing. In Poland, no ads yet, but with codes
Netflix wants them to use the same account on the platform only people living in one household – uses information such as IP addresses, device IDs and account activity to detect devices in a specific household. It is worth noting that the provision for one household was in the regulations earlier, but was not enforced in practice. Now that is changing.
Sharing a Netflix account with someone who doesn’t live in the same household is illegal according to user policies. Profile holders residing elsewhere will need to set up their own accounts to continue using the site. Netflix also advises that if it detects single or repeated logins to your account from a device not associated with your household, you may receive the need to verify access to the site – and in a short time. A user in Poland will be given 15 minutes for this – that’s how long the four-digit code sent to the email or phone number assigned to the account on the website will be valid after detecting an unusual login. Without entering this code, you will not be able to continue watching Netflix on your device.
Another option in the authorization mode is to change the primary household and, consequently, the devices associated with it that are authorized to use the account. In this case, a separate link will also be sent during verification, which will contain detailed information on the next steps. Please note that if we change households, we will need to verify all devices associated with the previous location.
The platform reassures that Netflix will not automatically charge a subscriber if they share an account with someone who does not live with them. broadcast while watching titles from the service’s library.
Netflix – packages currently available in Poland
- The basic package costs PLN 29 per month and allows you to watch movies in HD resolution (720p) on one device at a time.
- The standard package costs PLN 43 and includes the option of setting up profiles for two people who can use the service simultaneously on such devices as a phone, tablet, computer or TV set with Full HD (1080p) resolution.
- The premium plan costs PLN 60 and has the best video quality: Ultra HD (4k) and HDR. The service can be used by four people on different devices at the same time.
