Chanel has managed to captivate the world with ‘Slomo’. Spain achieved the highest score in its history in Eurovision thanks to the Catalan singer, who received an unprecedented ovation at the end of her show.
There was only one country that did not increase Chanel’s score with televoting: Italy. A fact that angered many eurofans, who criticized that Italy, a country with many similarities to Spain, did not value Chanel’s talent and that has been aggravated when they have been spread on social networks the controversial words pronounced by the Eurovision announcer Italian on the Spanish artist.
“It’s the Jennifer Lopez low cost”: this is how the commentator Cristiano Malgioglio defines it in full broadcast of the festival on Italian public television, RAI1, as can be heard in a video broadcast on social networks, in which he adds: “The song is good for the beach in summer But Jennifer Lopez there is only one!”
It was not the only comment from the journalist. Other users have shared how he criticized the 12 points for Spain: “Better not say anything. I’m getting perplexed,” he added while Chanel was rising in position. The journalist Toni Aguilar has assured in an interview in La Roca that he finds these types of comments “very bad”: “It seems to me to completely break elegance and solidarity. There has been quite a bit of controversy,” he commented.
However, Spanish eurofans have not been the only ones to criticize this attitude. Some users of the social network residing in Italy have shown their support for Chanel, who came in third place at the festival, and others have pointed out that Malgioglio is famous in the country for being very direct in his speeches. And they emphasize, he was not the only artist with whom he showed his sincere opinion of him.
