Natalia Kruczyńska, nutrition expert and trainer, in an interview with our website about New Year’s resolutions, referred to popular nutrition myths. One of them assumes that potatoes and bread are very fattening.
What makes us fat? “It’s not bread and potatoes”
It turns out, however, that these two elements are unnecessarily eliminated from our menus. – It’s not bread or potatoes that make you fat, but a caloric surplus in our diet – explains Natalia Kruczyńska. As the expert emphasized, many people exceed the demand completely unconsciously. Therefore, if we want to lose weight, we should start counting calories.
How to calculate caloric needs?
Depending on several factors, such as height, weight, age, health, lifestyle, our energy needs may vary. How to calculate them when we want to lose excess kilograms? Nowadays, we can find many calculators on the web that are very helpful. Usually, after answering a few simple questions (e.g. height, age and current weight), we receive information on how many calories we should provide the body with to lose weight.
New Year’s resolutions – what you need to remember
It is worth remembering that New Year’s resolutions should not assume big changes right away. We can often hear the opinion that it is best to start with small steps that will not be a nuisance for us. By setting difficult goals, we run the risk of disappointment and a sense of failure. In addition, let’s not set goals without careful thought and under the influence of emotions. These are the ones we give up the fastest.
Don’t expect immediate results either. If we count on the fact that the effects of slimming will be noticeable after a few days, we can quickly discourage ourselves from further action.
