The makeup specialist – originally from Colombia – visits Ecuador for the first time. She has worked in the international beauty pageant since 2015.

He is 34 years old and 11 of them dedicated to makeup in a professional way. Colombian Andrés Felipe Cabrera, originally from Armenia, is the official makeup and hairstyle director of the Miss Universe beauty pageant. She has worked with celebrities such as Ivy Queen, Gianlucca Vacchi, Lupita Jones, Clarisa Molina, Jacky Guerrido and all the former Miss Universe, since 2015 (the Filipino Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach) and for the first time she is visiting Ecuador.

Cabrera, who resides in Miami (United States), has given a makeup masterclass aimed at specialists in the area and amateurs to share with them the most recent techniques in this field, which has linked him to brands such as Coca Cola, Telemundo, Univisión and Chanel.

The also CEO and founder of the cosmetics brand MUBA that is expected to be sold in Ecuador, Cabrera briefly talks about his proposal and work.

From the beginning of the Miss Universe pageant to the present, how has the concept of highlighting beauty through makeup changed?

Definitely too much has changed since my guideline focuses on fairness for each contestant. It is my duty to provide the best equitable service for all the candidates, enhancing the beauty of each one with only neutral colors, dark brown being the tone for the best look on camera.

While it is true that he has said that there are no trends in makeup or that these are not applicable to everyone, many experts in makeup They continue with the techniques of contours, shadows and lighting, are they maintained or not? What’s new now?

In my world there are no trends, I consider myself an artist that has no limits and my purpose in my industry, which specializes in beauty queens, is enhancement and speed when putting on makeup, that is why contours are not necessary since by means of techniques that I teach they can be evaded and at the same time have the same effect. In the same way the illuminator does not work, since in cameras it tends to look greasy.

If makeup depends on what you want to highlight in each person, why do makeup artists, or most, apply the same techniques and the face is covered by several layers of foundation?

Because social media is so accessible, that most people or colleagues learn from it and understand in their minds that it is fashion without actually focusing on the individual person they are working on. It is important to work with what works for each one without stamping the same on all.

We are about to end the year, what colors have been strongly marked in the makeup proposal?

Always true to my earthy and neutral colors but for the parties with a more daring look such as smokey eyes with very dark coffees.

You have worked with the Mexican Andrea Meza, the current Miss Universe, in her what type of makeup and techniques do you apply for your day to day?

Yes, the last time I did her makeup was for the Latin Billboards red folder in Miami. Andrea Meza is less is more and her cheekbones are what I like the most to accentuate for a better dimension of a slim face.
