The festival Basque Film Meeting will bring the best of cinema in Basque to Lekeitio for the forty-fourth time, and the organization has already announced the twenty short films that will compete for the main awards.
All these works, carried out by both professional and amateur creators, are competing for the awards for best director (1600 euros), screenplay (1600 euros) and film (1900 euros), as well as the EITB Audience Award. The films can be seen on the 22nd, 23rd, 24th and 25th of November from 7:00 p.m. in the Ikusgarri room and on the zinebilera.eus website the same afternoon they are broadcast at the cinema.
The films in competition present different treatments, genres, creative processes and themes: “Aterpean ateri” (Ruben Crespo), “Itsasoan” (Joserra de la Mar, Xabi Crespo), “Zikings” (Aiert Goenaga), “Begiak hesten arte” (Jorge Moneo), “The night the sky was broken” (Maria Fontan) -all of them can be seen on November 22-, “Exiled children” (Mikel Mendizabal), “Roots” (Sergio Azkarate), “Rewind” (Amaia San Sebastian), “No Sunday for Snails” (Ainhoa Urgoitia, Enrique Rey), “Call” (Khuruts Begoña) -day 23-, “Subandila” (Josu Martinez), “Memory” (Eukeni Arriortua), “Game Over” ( Ilune Diaz), “Only 10 watts” (Oier Fuentes), “Ostendene” (Gorka Ezkibela) -November 24-, “Serendipia” (Iban del Campo), “Yauri Etxaide” (Pello Seron, Unai Zaballa), “Ate -joka “(Iban Gorriti),” A Portrait of the NB “(Peio Aguirre),” Defenders “(Maddi Arzallus, Iñigo Alkorta) -25-.
The jury that will determine the winner of the award for best direction, script and film will be made up of the UPV director and professor Iratxe Fresneda, the screenwriter, director and producer Izaskun Arandia and the actress and illustrator Ane Pikaza.
For their part, the spectators will be the ones who determine through their votes in the cinema and on the Internet who will be the winner of the EITB Award for the Public.
The person in charge of opening the Euskal Zine Bilera on November 20 will be the film “Paperezko hegoak”, by Josu Martinez and Samara Velte, on the 27th the closing gala will be held and the prizes will be presented and on the 28th the films will be screened awarded.
