‘Hello, human’, Gastón Calderón’s youth novel that talks about second chances in love and in life
The medal was presented to her on January 4 at the La Madriguera bookstore, by the French writer Joelle Cattan, representative of the association in Ecuador. During the ceremony, she highlighted that Calderón combines qualities of motivation and perseverance.
He says that a professor told him about this association that recognizes the merits that artists, writers and others do to the various cultural sectors, and in the middle of the conversation he convinced him to apply. That was how Calderón applied and after a few months he received an email with the news. “It was something unexpected because I had already forgotten about it, until now I can’t digest it, I feel very happy about it,” expressed in dialogue with this newspaper.
He says that it is the first award he has received since he began his adventure in writing, and therefore it is his first international award. A recognition that motivated him -among a few things- to translate his work First is her to French. “With what happened to me, I am motivated to learn French, I am motivated to continue in this and get a translation as soon as possible… so I have that goal”, it states.
In addition, this recognition inspires him to continue writing new stories and participate in local contests. The Renaissance Française is a non-governmental organization founded in 1915 by the former president of the French Republic, Raymond Poincaré, its mission is to promote culture, work for peace and distinguish merit. “Our areas of interest are broad with common points in cultural development, access to knowledge, intercultural dialogue and the rapprochement of peoples,” Cattan said at the event, according to a shared press release.
