The BMW iX xDrive 40, the first electric car of the German brand, arrives in Ecuador

The first BMW electric is already in the country, it is the iX xDrive 40, equipped with an all-wheel drive electric system, with a combined power of 240 kW / 326 hp (combined electric power consumption in the WLTP cycle: 4.44 – 5.15 km / kWh; CO2 emissions: 0 g / km). The efficiency of the propulsion technology combined with the latest battery cell technology results in ranges calculated by the WLTP cycle of up to 425 kilometers of autonomy.

Carlos Javier Estrada, BMW Marketing Manager in Ecuador, explains that the BMW iX’s electric four-wheel drive system transmits exactly the right amount of torque to the front and rear wheels in all driving situations. “Its intelligent control enables fully variable power transmission from high-efficiency pure rear-wheel drive to an all-wheel-drive configuration that maximizes traction.”

Sales of eco-friendly vehicles grow in Ecuador

Estrada says the near-actuator wheel-slip limiting technology installed in tandem with all-wheel drive for the first time “produces further improvement in traction and handling stability. Integrated into the engine management, this system produces ultra-fast and very precise corrective inputs and therefore allows the vehicle to move forward effortlessly at all times, even in adverse weather and road conditions.”

Electric cars could be an option given the increase in the price of gasoline, but how much do they cost? Who can access them?

The BMW iX xDrive 50 achieves acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, while the BMW iX xDrive 40 achieves the same mark from rest in 6.1 seconds. (YO)
