These are the Ecuadorian winners of the VIII Prize for the Creation of the Ibermúsicas Song 2021

42 unreleased songs from 14 countries were recognized in this edition.

The eighth edition of Ibermúsicas Song Creation Award 2021 has already announced its 42 winners, from 14 countries. In Ecuador the winners were the musicians and composers Alejandro Mendoza, Karen Márquez (Kalmar de la Mar) and Charly Ralos.

Marquez got recognition for Migrant, a piece whose main rhythm is the Cuban son. The Guayaquil woman is a poet and previously received an honorable mention in the National Hall Contest.

While, Mendoza He was one of the winners for his EHVA project, a piece created from the traditional elements of Ecuadorian culture. He is a multidisciplinary artist with experience in music production, sound design, performance live, composition, arrangements and lighting.

Ralos, one of the winners, expressed his emotion through social networks. “What an exciting scare I just hit … eternally grateful to those who continue to walk with me unconditionally,” said the singer-songwriter.

Each of the winners is entitled to an economic prize of $ 1,000, says Ibermúsicas.

Ibermúsicas is a multilateral international cooperation program dedicated to the dissemination of the musical arts in Latin America that operates through the ministries and secretariats of Culture of the region. Its objective, a statement specifies, is to promote and disseminate musical diversity, while creating new audiences and positioning professionals in the branch.

“This annual award qualifies the quality of the lyrics, music, originality of the composition, among other criteria”, states the Institute for the Promotion of Creativity and Innovation, in its press release.

They explained that The proposals presented were evaluated by juries from another Ibermúsicas country. Thus, the songs from Ecuador were rated by juries from Paraguay.

Ibermúsicas was approved at the XXI Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government, held in Asunción, Paraguay in November 2011 and is framed within the Ibero-American Cultural Space of the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB). (I)
