China will resume streaming Marvel movies in its theaters

The unofficial ban on films by Marvel in theaters of China will come to an end after three years, as the film company has already announced release dates for two of his feature films in the Asian country.

Through Weibo, an application similar to Twitter but that works in China, Marvel published the posters of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Y Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

The Black Panther movie would arrive in China four months after the international audience saw it in theaters, in November 2022. While the Ant-Man movie, which opens the Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universeopens alongside theaters worldwide on February 17, 2023.

Each year, Beijing only allows the public to play 34 foreign productions. Marvel movies were not included in that quota.

Spider-Man: Far From Home it was the last Marvel movie enjoyed by superhero fans in China. Since then, other productions such as Eternals, Thor: Love and Thunder, Y Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings they did not get permission to play in Chinese theaters.

Among the theories about its prohibition are some scenes that are violent, too daring, disturbing, or judged to be politically sensitive due to their LGBT or stereotypical content.

In the past, Marvel has had to cut certain scenes that Chinese authorities require to approve their theatrical broadcast. (AND)
