Teo, the son of Fanny Lu, reveals his most precious Christmas memory together with his mother during Telethon 2022

The spirit of the Telethon is about promoting the generosity of the community with those who need help at Christmas time, so comfortable for some and so complicated for others. Mateo Madriñán Martínez, known as Teo and a singer like his mother, the Colombian Fanny Lu, recalled his most treasured Christmas memory during his intervention at Teletón 2022. It was when his mother, approximately ten years ago, took the contestant children of the Colombian program ‘La Voz Kids’, broadcast by the Colombian television station Caracol Televisión, to celebrate Christmas with them. Fanny Lu was a judge on the show for its first 4 seasons, from 2014 to 2019.

“We sang Christmas carols and it was a very nice family meal. It was also a very heavy year for me, so it was a very special moment, which I take with me in my heart, “said the interpreter of the song chocolatewhose music video debuted on June 9 of this year and already has more than 1.6 million views on Youtube.

Teo, who seeks to project himself as an exponent of the urban genre, also seeks to innovate with his music in his nascent musical career. “You can only be you. I want to mix genres, I want to do what I like, I am a music lover before I am an artist”, declared Teo, who counts Bad Bunny, Tego Calderón, Daddy Yankee and Bruno Mars among his musical influences.

Teo, the son of Fanny Lú, makes his debut as an urban singer: “I was born in the era of reggaeton, rap, ‘freestyle’… They are my basis for telling stories. That is why the urban represents me”

The singer, who also sang the official theme of the Telethon, “You are not alone” with his mother, expressed that having the opportunity to share the stage with his mother is “something very special.” However, he didn’t always feel that way. He started writing music 5 years ago, and although his artistic career has already taken off, he said that being the son of Fanny Lu “has its pros and cons”. “When I was growing up, I was very angry, not her, but how people knew me,” Teo said. “They didn’t know me for me, but for being their son.”

However, he says that he has learned to appreciate that his mother’s career is part of his path, and that it is a source of pride for him. “For now it’s fine to be ‘Fanny Lu’s son.’” (AND)
