The “cachinery” of Juanca Vargas arrive at Municipal Museum of Guayaquil through the exhibition Surveywhich opens this afternoon at the Contemporary Art Room.
‘Medardo en Casa’, a work that narrates what happened before the death of Medardo Ángel Silva
The visual artist brings together 16 works, including installations and videos, that dialogue on themes such as paternity and racial identity. The exhibition is presented under the curatorship of Zayra Ninoska and will be open until November 12.
Vargas has a practice of collecting objects and using them as supports for his creations. One of the last samples of him was me, chamberman, in Under space.
“I am always taking things that I find on the street or things that are already damaged or destroyed to turn them into art (…). After the quarantine, in which I could no longer go out, I decided to lock myself in the workshop to work, to draw, to paint on these things that I found, on old books that I had”, he told in an interview with this Daily.
The inauguration is today at 5:30 p.m. in the museum, located on Sucre street, between Pedro Carbo and Chile. In the activity there will be a musical presentation of Monkey Clay and Sin Aka. Free entrance. (YO)
