The creators of “Sherlock” also want a reunion with Cumberbatch and Freeman on the set. Steven Moffat revealed in one of the latest interviews that he really hopes that work on the fifth season of the series will start soon. There is one obstacle – too short a day, which unfortunately is not made of rubber for anyone, and the actors playing the main roles in the production have been in demand for years.
Moffat, however, has no intention of giving up. On the BBC Today Show, he made a request to Cumberbatch and Freeman.
“I realize they’re doing big, important things, but Martin, Benedikt… please come back.” The creator’s appeal, although it sounded a bit theatrical, was definitely sincere and well thought out.
The lead actors in the series did not respond to Moffat’s request. In 2021, Benedict Cumberbatch assured in one interview that he did not say “Sherlock” – “no”, but he spoke about the continuation of the series quite skeptically.
“I really like the character. It’s just that the circumstances have to be right and I think maybe it’s too soon to see Sherlock get a second life. that he won’t have another one in the future.”
