Two actors sue Paramount over child nudity in 1968 ‘Romeo and Juliet’



Actors olivia hussey Y Leonard Whiting have sued Paramount, accusing it of child sexual exploitation for a nude scene in the film “Romeo and Juliet” from 1968, when they were both teenagers.

The specialized magazine Variety has reported that the protagonists of the film directed by Franco Zeffirelli (1923-2019) filed suit in Santa Monica Superior Court accusing Paramount of exploit them sexually and to distribute nude images of children teenagers.

The lawsuit alleges that the film’s director promised the actors that the film I wouldn’t count on nudes and that they would instead wear nude underwear in the bed scene required for the narrative.

According to the plaintiffs, days before the shoot Zeffirelli begged Hussey, 15, and Whiting, 16, to perform nude with body makeup Otherwise, the film would fail, and he promised not to photograph or publish any nudes, thus breaking his promise.

The two plaintiffs claim damages amounting to more than 500 million dollarsand denounce that since the premiere of the film both actors were emotionally affected and limited in their job offers due to it.

The claim was filed under the California Child Victim Lawwhich allows survivors of child sexual abuse to file civil cases and which temporarily suspended the limitation period for older reports of child sexual abuse.
