Ralph Kaminski on the mission of public television. The competing station meets it “with a vengeance”

Ralph Kaminski, awarded with Fryderyk for the album “Bark”, openly opposes the values ​​promoted by TVP and refuses to cooperate with the station. As part of the New Year’s Eve concerts, he chose competition and performed during Polsat’s New Year’s Eve Power of Przebojów. In one of the interviews accompanying the event, he referred to the functions that should be performed by public television.

Is the place of the artists in another station?

The artist criticized the condition of Telewizja Polska and the way it operates today. In an interview for the Plejada portal, Kaminski said how he understood the mission of public media. He also admitted that Polsat provides space for its implementation, allowing not only him, but also international artists, both purely commercial and those on the verge of alternative, to express themselves. In his opinion, the station more than accomplishes what TVP fails to do.

This is a place where artists like me, from such an uncompromising world, get a chance to show themselves to a very wide audience. I come from the alternative, but I do something very original, I have nothing imposed from the outside and I can show a piece of my world to a commercial audience on my terms. This is something amazing. There is a place for commercialism here, for artists from different worlds, great. This should be the mission of public television. It should, well… A mission that is fulfilled thanks to Polsat. With a vengeance.

He prefers to be associated with Polsat

The firm decision to cut off from TVP is not new in the case of Ralph Kaminski. The singer admitted that although he dreams of representing Poland at Eurovision, he does not want to support the station responsible for auditions for the competition and the transmission of its individual stages. However, Polsat does not refuse commercial cooperation – he performed not only as part of the New Year’s Eve Power of Przebojów, but also at the Christmas concert with carols. He also revealed that his family would like to see him in “Dancing with the Stars”, which, after a break of several years, has been broadcast on Polsat since 2014. At the moment, plans related to creating music and promoting it as part of concert tours do not allow him to engage in a similar project.

My grandma and aunt would like me to dance on Dancing with the Stars. It’s a program that shuts you off from your life for a good few months, and I don’t have the space for it right now. I think it’s a great experience for people who do it. An amazing adventure and a lot of stress, so I admire every person who takes part in it.
