brendan fraser has apologized for a gigantic traffic congestion in 1997 in the city San Franciscocaused by a funny trick during the George of the Jungle filming.
The 53-year-old actor, who is shaping up for awards season success with his starring role in The Whale, recounted how a particularly high-octane scene in which George has to rescue an entangled skydiver on the bridge of the Oakland Bay City, wreaked havoc on traffic.
He told SFGate: “Disney put a mannequin hanging by a parachute from the uprights. It stopped traffic on both sides of the bridge. My trailer was across a parking lot. I only remember seeing the bridge. There is a fictional skydiver hanging from it. He had the TV on and “Oprah” was cut off because there was a special news report with helicopters saying that there was a parachute hanging from the bridge.”
And I’m like, “Wait a minute, I’m watching the helicopters and TV: somebody didn’t get a permit, somebody’s going to have trouble with the mayor’s office. So I can only apologize for that.”
Brendan played the leading man George in the film, which tells the story of a man raised by animals in an African junglewho later falls in love with an American heiress during his tour of Uganda.
This comes in the midst of a lengthy press tour for his new project The Whale, which marks his triumphant return to Hollywood. after a long battle with depression. Brendan has said this was sparked after former Hollywood Foreign Press Association president Philip Berk “sexually assaulted” him in 2003.
In video shared by a guest at the premiere, an emotional Brendan is seen bowing to enthusiastic applause from the audience before embracing director Darren Aronofsky and screenwriter Samuel D. Hunter, who join him on stage.
Hitting theaters in December, The Whale first premiered at the Venice Film Festival last month and is quickly garnering rave reviews, as well as Oscar buzz for its lead star.
The film marks Brendan’s first Hollywood project in almost ten years and Brendan’s first lead role in a movie since 2013’s thriller Breakout, leading many fans to believe this is his return. (YO)
