A pensioner’s ID card is a document in the form of a plastic card resembling an ID card. Thanks to the ID card, seniors can take advantage of many discounts and reliefs. Soon you won’t need to carry a physical card with you. We explain what it is all about and how to apply for a new form of the document.
Retirement and disability pension card. What discounts are available?
The old-age and disability pensioner’s ID card entitles you to many discounts and allowances. Persons with the right to an old-age or disability pension or a compensatory benefit for teachers may apply for the document. Its possession is associated with additional benefits, i.e.:
- Discounts on public transport,
- drug discounts,
- Exemption from part of fees during rehabilitation,
- Discounts on entry to spa resorts,
- Discounts in cultural centres, theaters or cinemas,
- Tax deduction of costs (more than PLN 100) of medicines prescribed by a doctor.
Changes in the ID card for seniors. They come into force on January 1, 2023
The changes that are coming into force can be a big help. From January 1, 2023, the ID card will also be available in electronic form. Just use the mObywatel application and add it to your virtual wallet. Seniors will not have to carry a plastic card with them. You will be able to present the document using your smartphone. Cards issued so far will remain valid. The new version of the ID card will be issued free of charge and the application should be submitted to ZUS.
