Miniszewski’s stories – addressed, as the author points out, only to adults – take the reader to the Podlasie wilderness, to the edge of the dark forest, to swamps and bogs. Pagan ghosts live there, healers cast deadly spells, and old legends gain a very modern face. Devil doesn’t sleep, but evil struggling with good somehow cannot take root – the fascists receive a well-deserved punishment, and at the end of terrible adventures, the villagers eat kogel-mogel in unison. Black humour, grotesque, sarcasm – all this flows in liters from the audiobook “Różnia and Other Tales from the Village Nearby” by Mirosław Miniszewski.
Maciej Stuhr and Miroslaw Miniszewski
“Różnia and other tales from the village next door” is the second audiobook with stories by Miniszewski – after the “Tales from the village next door” published in May 2022. This would not have happened if during his stay in Podlasie, Maciej Stuhr had not come across a “neighbor’s book” in his host’s house. As it turned out, he and Miniszewski lived in the same area at the time. After the encounter with prose, it was time for a meeting with the author – and also a personal, close understanding.
About the author of the audiobook
