Ideal lubricants for light vehicles

Ideal lubricants for light vehicles

The engine has many components that are in motion, which causes the wear of parts, the job of the lubricant is to protect these parts from deterioration, reducing the temperature and avoiding overheating and damage. That is why it is important to comply with the change intervals recommended by the distributor, which generally suggests an oil change after 5,000 kilometers; For their part, developers use new components whose resistance is increasing, thus reducing the consumption of raw materials and the generation of hazardous waste.

Lubricant Categories

There are several types of car oils that differ in technical compositions, Exxon Mobil highlights the following categories:

• Monogrades: products that have only one degree of viscosity.

• Multigrades: with extremes of viscosity to guarantee good performance at different temperatures, in this category are semi-synthetics and full synthetics. They offer improved characteristics, such as high stability to temperature changes, energy saving, adequate detergent effect (ability to keep the lubrication system clean) and long periods of useful life.

“To keep the units in good condition, the support of the owner is required, changes of lubricants and filters can be made, but the vehicles require adjustments and verifications that only certified technicians can do” explains Eduardo Pazmiño Z., specialist of Mavesa Group Product Support.

Viscosity level and brand quality

It must be considered that the oils used in the transmissions of heavy vehicles are generally denser and more viscous compared to the light ones. There are international organizations that regulate the lubricant industry, these regulations must be printed on the labels, being the most relevant, but not the only ones.

• SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers)

Regulates lubricants by a number that indicates the degree of viscosity, according to Table J300, the higher the number, the more viscous.

• API (American Petroleum Institute)

It regulates lubricants by means of a letter that indicates the application and quality level. For example, the S identifies the application in gasoline engines.

“Modern engines require high-quality lubricants to function, so there is less wear, savings and better control,” says Noemí Rehpani, Conauto product-lubricant manager.

What role does the oil filter play?

The oils drag dirt from the chambers through which they pass, thanks to the detergent they contain. The filter captures all these impurities so that the oil does not circulate dirty, producing additional scratches and wear; experts recommend its change every 5,000 kilometers.

Additives, important complement

Luis Gusqui, EcuaEnersa’s marketing manager, details that when the oil leaves its container and combines with oxygen, it begins to lose its properties; the additive acts by creating a film that is impregnated in all the metal of the engine, avoiding friction and wear. “EcuaEnersa exclusively brought to the Ecuadorian market the graphene lubricant additive manufactured with cutting-edge technology; graphene is a material based on carbon molecules obtained from graphite, one of the most abundant elements in nature. Its main advantages are its high resistance and durability, combined with incredible flexibility. It is a very light material and it is also an excellent conductor,” he said.

In the Ecuadorian market there is a wide variety of lubricating oils to protect your car, here some of the greatest technological projection.

HAVOLINE

Semi-synthetic and full synthetic Havoline with its advanced formula, API SP, protects the engine for more than 8,500 km. Its technological platform is oriented to provide the best protection based on the use of the highest quality raw materials, formulated with basic oils plus additives of

advanced technology, which provide gasoline engines with the characteristics necessary to keep them in the best possible condition.

REPSOL WITH EUROPEAN TECHNOLOGY

Elite NEO Evolution, are semi-synthetic and full synthetic products that meet the demands of the most modern and high-performance gasoline engines. Diesel Turbo THPD 15W40 products are designed for diesel engines and developed with European technology for the most demanding jobs.

AMALIE

It is a 100% synthetic oil of the highest quality for use in engines that comply with the EURO IV gas emission regulations in both gasoline and light diesel vehicles. Due to its low content of sulfated ash, sulfur and phosphorus, (Mid SAPS) reduces the emission of polluting products into the atmosphere and extends the life of gas post-treatment systems. It is especially recommended in engines equipped with these post-treatment systems such as DPF. Its formulation with synthetic bases and last generation additives allows its use in engines where low friction and low viscosity are required. It reduces fuel consumption and allows reaching the maximum oil change intervals set by the manufacturers, as well as excellent protection against wear, even under very severe conditions of use. Specially formulated to meet the latest specifications of manufacturers of Mercedes, BMW and Volkswagen.

URSA PREMIUM TDX 151- 48, FOR HEAVY VEHICLES

Its new APICK-4 semi-synthetic product provides greater protection for the engine. Ursa is a high performance diesel engine lubricant, manufactured with ISO SYN technology. Ursa Premium TDX is one of the favorites in Ecuador for its quality.

MOTOREX

Motorex GEO semi-synthetic 20W50 and 10W30 are lubricants for gasoline engines with high quality standards and advanced technology to provide engines with extreme protection and long life. Semi-synthetic Motorex 4T is an oil formulated for motorcycle engines, which are much more demanding than automobiles.

GOLDEN BEAR

GOLD 8K. SAE 20W-50 API SP, has the most advanced technology + SYN to satisfy the latest and most severe requirements of manufacturers of modern 4-stroke gasoline engines. Golden Bear has paid particular attention to the prevention of LSPI (Pre-Combustion at Low Revolutions), a phenomenon that can cause catastrophic failures in short periods in TGDI (Turbo Compressed Direct Injection) engines, in addition to the improvements provided to satisfy the requirements of these prove to be very beneficial in traditional engines operating in severe conditions.

CHEVRON DELO AND SUPREME

Chevron lubricants are imported from the United States and manufactured with semi-synthetic bases. Chevron Delo are for very high performance diesel engines. Chevron Supreme, are for gasoline engines that provide high protection to the vehicle’s engine with superior technology.

MOBILE

Mobil constantly develops new compounds that guarantee better performance: as an example, the line of Mobil 1 lubricants for gasoline engines, made from an exclusive blend of ultra-high performance synthetic base oils, fortified with a carefully balanced additive system. Provides exceptional cleanliness, wear protection and comprehensive performance, keeping the engine running like new. Recommended for the latest technologies of gasoline and diesel engines (without diesel particulate filters or DPF) of European and American vehicles.
