After his film debut with Dunkirk (2017) and then in eternal (2021), Harry Styles appears this week with the theatrical release of Do not worry honey (Don’t Worry Darling). Styles and Pugh portray a married couple residing in a Dreamy 1950s-style suburban community that isn’t as ideal as it sounds, but lives in a quaint, experimental utopia called Victoria. Pugh stars as Alice, a housewife whose reality begins to crack, revealing disturbing truths beneath her seemingly ideal world. Perfect housewives and husbands dedicated to her work stand out, involved in a secret project that no one can talk about, but the apparent calm of the place seems to crack at some point when flashes of something sinister seem to come to mind.
When the trailer for the sci-fi thriller dropped in May, social media was abuzz over Styles’ character, Jack, pounced on Alice across a dining room table.
“It’s about immediacy and extreme passion for each other,” Wilde says of the complicated relationship central to the film. “The impractical nature of their sex speaks to their fierce desire for each other. I think it’s an integral part of the story itself. and how the audience is supposed to connect with them. My first conversations with the cast were about how the audience has to accept the fantasy.”
“As a director, Olivia is incredibly focused. She communicated what she was looking for from the cast with clarity and respect,” Styles says in Variety. “I think the transition from acting to directing has made her a director who knows how to bring out the best in everyone.”
Wilde and Styles have not publicly commented on whether they are a couple, although paparazzi photos have made it clear that they are. “I’m not going to say anything about it because I’ve never seen a relationship benefit from being dragged into the public arena,” says Wilde. “We both do everything we can to protect our relationship. I think it’s from experience, but also from deep love.”

Wilde spoke about the inspirations behind the visual choices. “I have always been interested in the iconography of the 50s and 60s, the music and cinema of that time and we thought it was the best way to design Victoria’s world. With screenwriter Katie Silberman, we were interested in focusing on the fact that this happiness existed for a few. With this film everything is a metaphor, Victoria’s paradox is that everything beautiful is also sinister.”.
But it is not only the appearance that makes this imaginary place not as perfect as it seems: “It is a world that is based on many real experiences, for example the Manhattan Project, there is a great fascist iconography, in fact we are talking about power and abuse of power. Chaos is described as something destructive while on the other side we have order and beauty and this is part of an almost dictatorial ideology. I see this as a movie that talks about today, but it doesn’t have a real time. I think it will lead to debates and reflections, people will ask questions about the role of institutions. Pine’s character -Frank- is a manipulative and unscrupulous leader. “The key is the language. All of these types of leaders use language as a weapon. Frank doesn’t rely on anyone. The image of him is associated with beauty and stupidity. For example, there is a scene in which he invites people to a party, with a messianic fervor that is almost reminiscent of Hitler. The incredible thing is that it is not very different from reality, because it was a way of life at that time. There didn’t have to be too many actors, because the people seem real in what could be our world. The film shows beautiful things that also have a dark side.”details the actor in Collider.
