Golden Globes 2023. Nominations announced. The list includes a new “Avatar” and an actor who has already announced a boycott

Nominations for 2023 have been officially announced. As it turns out, this year’s favorite of the American Foreign Press Association is the film “Ghosts of Inisherin”, which has a chance to win awards in eight categories (Best Musical or Comedy, Screenplay or Director). Second in line is the high-profile film “Everywhere At Once” with six nominations. In turn, the films “Babilon” and “Fabelmanowie” have five of them each.

Golden Globes 2023. List of nominations

“Mission: Elementary School” is the series with the most Golden Globe nominations: it has five. Tim Burton’s “Wednesday” also received nominations in the comedy category, as did Jenna Ortega, who played the lead role. Dahmer – The Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story also has a chance for an award. Netflix and HBO Max go head to head this year, as their series productions have exactly 14 nominations. Next up is Hulu, which has garnered nine nominations.

As expected, he has a chance for the award for the best actor, among others. Brendan Fraser thanks to the high-profile role in “The Whale”. Even before the announcement of the list of nominations, the actor firmly stated that he did not intend to appear at the ceremony organized by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, even if he was selected by the jury for the statuette. In an interview with GQ magazine, he explained:

That’s because I have more of a past with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association than respect for it. And my mother didn’t raise a hypocrite. I can be described in many ways, but I am definitely not that person.

The case dates back several years, as Fraser told in an earlier interview with the same magazine. The actor then explained why he suddenly and unexpectedly withdrew from public life – accusations were also made against Philip Berk, former chairman of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Brendan Fraser said that in 2003 Berk attacked and groped him during lunch. An HSPZ member denied the reports and called them “an absolute fabrication”.

The award ceremony will take place on Wednesday, January 11, 2023. The gala will be hosted by comedian Jerrod Carmichael, who will replace Ricky Gervais, who has been the host of the evening for a long time. The gala will be broadcast live on NBC and Peacock.
