The plane Airbus A220the most recent aircraft of the European aeronautical giant, made a stop this Friday in Panama before heading to its debut in the 22nd edition of the International Air and Space Fair (FIDAE)in Santiago de Chile.

The aircraft parked in the cargo area of the Tocumen international airport, which serves the Panamanian capital and is an important regional connection center, “is from the company Swiss (International Air Lines)“, said to efe the president of Airbus for Latin America and the Caribbean, the Spanish Arturo Barreira.
“We have asked them to show it around the region, since we are going to FIDAE, which is the most important Latin American fair,” he added.

The plane left Switzerland and made stops in Montreal (Canada), Miami (USA), Mexico and now Panama, before heading to Santiago de Chile, Barreira explained.
He added that “part of the marketing strategy is to teach customers throughout the regionand FIDAE is an important event to show it”.
According to Airbus, the A220 is making a “South American debut” as it tours the region on a demonstration tour.
“In Latin America we have not penetrated with this plane yet. Today we are number one in the region, as the 56% of the planes that fly are from Airbus and we have incredible success with our other one-aisle family,” Barreira added.
The A220 is the “single aircraft” designed for the market from 100 to 150 seats and includes “state-of-the-art aerodynamics, advanced materials and turbofan engines”, according to information provided by Airbus.
Also, reduces noise by 50% and up to 25% fuel consumption per seat and CO2 emissions compared to previous generation aircraft, and emits nearly 50% less NOx (nitrogen oxides) than industry standards.
