Britney Spears released “Hold Me Closer” on Friday, her first new song in six years in a duet with British music legend Elton John.

The track, a dance version of John’s 1970s ballad “Tiny dancer” with elements of his later hit “The One,” is released less than a year after Spears won a court battle with her father, putting ending a guardianship agreement that gave him control over much of his life.
My first song in six years! Spears tweeted. “It’s great to be singing with one of the most classic men of our time,” she said.
The cover shows images from the childhood of the two pop legends, who between them have 90 years of experience in music.
Okie dokie … my first song in 6 years 🎶 !!!! It’s pretty damn cool that I’m singing with one of
the most classic men of our time … @eltonofficial 🚀!!!! I’m kinda overwhelmed… it’s a big deal to me !!! I’m meditating more 🧘🏼♀️ and learning my space is valuable and precious!!!— Britney Spears 🌹🚀 (@britneyspears) August 25, 2022
Dusting off some of his own classics with a younger artist, John is echoing last year’s hit “Cold Heart,” recorded with Dua Lipa.
Spears’ last release was the album “Glory” in 2016.
Since then, the singer – who dominated the pop charts in the late 1990s and early 2000s – has been in the spotlight as a result of the conservatorship that controlled her life for 13 years.
John, properly speaking Sir Elton John, is one of the biggest British pop stars who has left his mark on music since the 1970s with dozens of compositions such as “Your song”, “Goodbye yellow bricks road” “Candle in the wind” or “I’m still standing.” (AND)
