From the Capsicum Committee of the Exporters Association (ADEX) forecast that high freight prices to the United States and delayed shipments could cause shipments of dried paprika to drop in the coming weeks.
“The transfer of the cargo to that country used to take between 20 and 30 days, now it is up to 70 days, causing the dried paprika to suffer alterations due to condensation. If it is in the dry container for a long time, humidity is generated and later mold ”, indicated Walter Seras, president of said group.
Seras points out that this situation would imply a loss for the entrepreneurs, since the food can be returned and cost overruns will be generated because the maritime cargo insurance does not cover the containers in these cases, which would slow down the export or even stop it.
