Gasoline and diesel already exceed two euros and practically ‘eat’ the subsidy of 20 cents


Compared to a year ago, the average price of a liter of gasoline has increased by 55.7%, while in the case of diesel it is 64% more expensive. Since the invasion of Ukraine by Russia at the end of last February, the prices of both fuels have skyrocketed by more than 30%.

The average price of gasoline and diesel in Spain has climbed this week to a new historical record and is already above the level of two euros, also ‘eating’ practically in both cases the entire subsidy of 20 cents per liter that came into force last April.

Specifically, the average price of a liter of gasoline this week stood at 2.117 euros, after registering a rise of 3.36% compared to seven days ago, according to data from the European Union Oil Bulletin.

In the case of diesel, the average price per liter has registered an increase of 4.54% in the last week, to exceed the bar of two euros (2,003 euros) for the first time.

With respect to a year agothe average price of a liter of gasoline has increased by 55.7%, while in the case of diesel it is 64% more expensive, although without taking into account the discount currently in force.

Meanwhile, from the invasion of Ukraine by Russia at the end of last February, the prices of both fuels have shot up more than 30%.

With these levels, the price of unleaded gasoline of 95 is maintained in Spain since above the European Union averagelocated at 2,042 euros per liter, although not from the euro zone, with an average price of 2,097 euros.

In the case of diesel, the price in Spain is also higher than the EU average, which is 1,981 euros, although it is below that of the euro zone, with a price of 2,029 euros.
