ELA, LAB and ESK have called for next Monday an extraordinary meeting of the plenary session of the works council of the Mercedes Benz plant in Vitoria to convene a general assembly of workers to force the management to negotiate the new agreement.

The management of the Mercedes plant in Vitoria informed the unions a month ago that it was paralyzing the negotiation of the collective agreement until it is known in which factory of the multinational the new electric model will be manufactured.

The president of the works council of Mercedes Benz-Vitoria, Igor Gevara, has assured that the current situation in the plant is “unsustainable” because the staff is “outraged” with what is happening, without wage increases for this year or for the last.

Gevara has said that after 16 months of negotiations, in which the company “has made a fool of the staff”, now there is a situation in which the management will foreseeably propose an “express negotiation, scaring” the workers, warning them that you have to close a deal before a certain date.
