The secretaries general of CC. OO. and UGT of Euskadi, Loli García and Raúl Arza, respectively, have warned the employers that they will be “belligerent” to achieve wage increases that guarantee the purchasing power of workers by including wage review clauses in the agreements.
The two union leaders, who have agreed that the objective is that “no worker loses purchasing power”, have made this notice during the presentation in Bilbao of the demonstrations with which CC. OO. and UGT will jointly celebrate May Day in the capitals of the CAV under the slogan “The solution: raise wages, contain prices, more equality.”

Both unions intend to return to “recover the streets normally” next Sunday after two years of pandemic to demand effective measures from governments and employers to lower prices and raise wages.
In relation to this latest demand, Loli García has warned that they are not going to sign “any agreement that has a loss of purchasing power of wages.”
In his opinion, rejecting the inclusion of salary review clauses in the agreements “as the employers are doing is an opportunistic way of making money irresponsibly.”
Raúl Arza, for his part, lamented the “blockade” suffered by collective bargaining in the Basque Country, with more than 400,000 workers with their agreements pending to be negotiated and without a single sectoral agreement having been signed so far this year, while the company ones that have been signed affect just over 4,000 workers, according to their data.
