The Basque Autonomous Community has received 819 million euros of the European funds Next Generation for economic reactivation, as reported this Friday by the delegate of the Spanish Government in Euskadi.
Of those 819 million, the Basque Government is managing 550 (67.1%) and the rest, 269 million, has been executed by the State.
The Government delegate in the Basque Country, Denis Itxasohas reported this Friday in a press appearance the current balance of the call for these grants.
As for the destination of the fundsItxaso has indicated that the Basque Government has dedicated the money to public policies of green transition (230 million), social protection (84 million) and digitization (72 million).
Specifically, the Projects are related to the improvement of energy efficiency in public buildings, the extension of broadband, sustainable tourism, education, health, the improvement of digital skills of unemployed women, and aid for the production of feature films, among other subjects.
Besides, 45 calls for the recovery plan have been resolved from which almost 1000 participants would have benefited: 235 are local entities and public bodies, 470 companies and research centers, more than 145 foundations and associations and more than 130 individuals.
“European funds are already reaching the productive fabric and will do so even faster in the coming weeks”stressed Itxaso, who has warned that “every time it is insinuated that the funds are not arriving, there is a risk of discouraging and confusing”.
Denis Itxaso is confident that the resources for strategic projects will be distributed in the coming months of 2022.
