Tourism: they ask for tax and financial facilities

The crisis caused by the pandemic in tourism has led to various unions linked to this activity requesting the declaration of an emergency in the sector since last year.

In response, on April 8, the Executive officially declared the tourism sector in an emergency until December 31, 2022.

The Government proposes to offer an effective response to the problem through an emergency plan that will support measures to achieve financial rescue, economic support, as well as facilitation and tourism promotion.

Last week, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) met with the unions and associations of the sector to address the points to be considered in the emergency plan that, according to La República, will be published this Friday.

The unions presented before the mincetur more than 30 proposals to be included in the document. Among the most important are the extension for 24 months of the grace period of the Reactiva Peru credit to all those companies that have not been able to invoice more than 40% in 2021 compared to 2019.

Also included in the proposals is the relaxation of requirements so that companies that have a poor rating in the SBS credit bureau can access loans through collateral.

The unions also proposed the exemption from income tax and VAT for a period of 3 years for services related to tourism. Likewise, they proposed the early reimbursement of the IGV in projects that range from S / 2.5 million.

Regarding the promotion of tourism, they proposed the creation of stimulus funds for regional governments to expand the promotion of their local destinations. In this line, they propose to promote internal tourism through the delivery of credits to public officials so that they can travel to the interior of the country, which would generate greater tourist movement.
